NEW CHECK POLICY 2025 - PCHC Advisory on Writing Information on Checks for Deposit/Clearing (PCHC Memo Circular No. 3814)

In line with the new check design implemented by the Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC) last May 1, 2024, incorrect check writing formats will no longer be acceptable starting July 1, 2025.

The Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC) will implement a new format in filling out checks, effective on Tuesday, July 1.

In line with PCHC Memo Circular No. 3814, banks have released guidelines on how to properly fill out checks in the new design. This includes the removal of certain symbols and details, and following the standard format date in numerical form.

New check guidelines:

The Issue Date

Please use pure numeric value MM-DD-YYYY, with dash (“-“) as the only allowed partition symbol. Use of any other symbols to separate the month from the day and the day from the year will no longer be accepted for clearing.

With the new check design implemented this year, here’s a quick guide on correctly writing details on checks based on guidelines released by the Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC).
Save this for your reference as checks written not following these will be considered unacceptable for deposit and clearing starting July 1, 2025.

The Amount in Words ( from Security Bank website)

The amount in words is a must for a check to be acceptable for deposit/clearing. There are no restrictions regarding symbols traditionally placed before and after the amount in words to deter attempt for alteration.
